Lewis explained that the Kuwaiti investor is a long run investor and a farsighted one who knows the safe investment havens. He also advised not to invest in Turkey now and the Egyptian market is unstable.

He noted that the rich Arabs are now buying in Switzerland. He concluded that UK, Spain and Dubai are the most needed as investment destinations.

How can expatriates own real-estates in Kuwait?

Despite the new law issued by the cabinet of Ministers allowing the expatriates to own real-estates in Kuwait, it is still not completely applied. There are difficult terms which can’t be easily applied.

Among these terms is getting Interior Minister’s approval, mentioning sources of money to be paid by the customer and certificate of good behavior. That is why some of the expatriates follow devious methods depending on exploiting Kuwaiti nationals to own these real-estates products in regions such as Hawalli, Fahaheel and Farwania.

It is very necessary to facilitate these difficult terms and define reasonable property taxes to be paid by those expatriates. Such methods would increase real-estates market activities in Kuwait.
