Trowers & Hamlins visit Kuwait and meet with BP

Mr. Amir Hashemi, Partner at Trowers & Hamlins LLP visited Blueprint on the 6th of February during his business trip to Kuwait. Many things were discussed on the UK real-estate market including the legal and technical issues related to buying of the property by overseas investors. Currently, UK property market is one of the strongest performing markets in the world and highly sought after by international Investors due to it’s transparency, strong currency, strategic location among many others. Experts believe the trend will continue in the coming years as there is significant potential for growth in the UK real-estate market.

Amir stressed the importance of buying commercial properties in UK through a structure rather than a direct acquisition. When an investor directly buys into a property he is exposed various kinds of taxes namely, The Income Tax which varies from 20% up-till 45%, Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and so on. Buying through an offshore entity will significantly reduce the income tax as well as mitigate the inheritance tax or any Capital Gains Tax on the sale of the Property.
